Renewable Resource Systems is a forward looking company, rooted from over two decades of practical work experience in corporate America. Our founder was employed by the Hewlett Packard Company for twenty five years (25). This experience at HP, the company that was the birthplace of silicon valley and today is the world’s largest technology firm, provided both the understand of the practical application of technology and a deep sense that business has a responsibility to the local communities it serves and to the environment.
Dave Packard, co-founder of HP, was renowned for many accomplishments and the establishment of sound business practices. One of these business principles was “ what management measures gets done”, a simple but very effective way of setting objectives and then quantifying results to see if they were met.
Renewable Resource Systems has adopted this guiding principle from Dave Packard and HP. We have built our organization around the ability to “measure” our clients current state (be it the effiecncy of your home or the potential energy to be harnessed from solar or wind resources) and then develop a plan to make impactful adjustments and improvements and then measure results.
On the back of our business cards, we clearly list what our company does…1) energy efficiency audits and studies, 2) education for process and behavior change (related to energy use), and 3) the design, installation and support of renewable energy solutions that reduce costs and fossil fuel usage. All three of these platforms are related and integrated into the solutions we create by working with our clients.
We take the approach of helping our clients understand their current energy costs first through detailed measurement, and then plot an effective and well rationalized plan to address and reduce them. Be it using the state of the art Solar measurement tools like Solmetric’s Suneye (for solar access and shade analysis) or using The Building Performance Institute (BPI’s) Home assessment and improvement protocols, we use effective and industry recognized practices to do the right thing, for the right reasons, for all our clients.

And we don’t just serve our clients, but also the communities they live in. Based on availability and our current commitments, we attempt to conduct at least one educational event per month for local community groups, schools, local governments and sustainability organizations without fee. Please visit the Educational section of our website to learn about many of the free educational programs and presentations Renewable Resource Systems has made in various communities. It’s a small way to help build awareness for the many areas that comprise the larger environmental and sustainability spectrum and give some of our time to involve others in the process of reducing fossil fuel usage through recycling, reusing and reducing our impact on our Earth.
Our own saying, that “it’s a great day to make your
own energy” , is more than a clever tag line. It’s a reminder that we all have the opportunity (and responsibility) to make meaningful changes in how we use energy, and that with help from Renewable Resource Systems, the time to start is now!
